What is the upside and downside of bloggers publishing their income and expenses?

I tend to see quite a few financial bloggers publishing their income and expenses to share an example so as readers can draw comparison of how they do things. One example is Dividend Mantra here >>

Income from October 2011:
$3,708–Regular Paycheck
$81–Dividends
$200–Bonus and Spiffs
Total Income: $3,990
Expenses from October 2011:
$452–Rent
$160–Student Loans
$74–Groceries
$73–Restaurants
$53–Internet
$52–Public Transportation
$44–Pharmacy
$21–Fast Food and Pizza
$40–Mobile Phone
$30–Gym
$105–Everything Else*
Total Expenses: $1,106

Asian’s are typically more secretive on these money matters, but I am just wondering how many readers would like to see more of these among finance bloggers here?

Hi Drizzt

Personally, I won't share details, maybe percentages to give a flavour. But today's Gen Y or even Gen Z are open to sharing online just as their thoughts and feelings are openly shared on social media networks such as facebook, twitter etc.

Be well and prosper.

Some people will need to depend on showing off their vast wealth or high income to make living by selling something to the masses.

I know there are a large number of HDB millionaires(excluding the value of their HDB flats) in the heartlands; but they never show off. Why? They don't need to make a living by showing off.

BTW, when we have more money we will attract more "friends" and "relatives". "Friends" or "relatives" whom we don't wish to know them in the first place.

I think this would actually be pretty useful. I've been tracking my own budget and finding I'm spending way more than I expected, so seeing how people fare would be interesting.
